Why Omakase?

Omakase is a Japanese phrase that loosely means “entrust” or “protect”. It’s a phrase most commonly heard in North America at sushi bars where if one orders Omakase Shimasu it is telling the chef that you are placing your trust in his hands to deliver the best quality meal, tailored to your preferences.

A more specific translation of this phrase might sound like “place your trust in the hands of the master”. Naturally you might think that calling a company “Omakase” is a bit arrogant as it suggests that we are the masters and that you should put all of your trust in us. Here’s where the twist occurs.

We believe that in nearly all organizations there exists latent intelligence that if allowed to emerge can significantly contribute to almost any challenge that an organization faces. Too often organizations look to external consultants to help them solve their problems but the effectiveness and sustainability of this approach is something we would seriously call into question.

Omakase Group can create the conditions for that knowledge to emerge and our message to the world is that if senior members of organizations put their trust in their people, no matter the level or position, the intelligence within will rise to the challenge. So our ask is not that you put your trust in us as consultants but to put your trust in the masters within your own organizations.
